This afternoon at 5:10 PM, Mayor Chris Younger issued Executive Order 2020-002, setting forth additional guidelines for businesses in Dyer. The executive order closes all non-essential retail businesses, but most businesses may continue to provide curbside pickup and delivery services.
Essential businesses included in the order include:
a. Grocery Stores and farms that sell directly to customers, and other food stores, including retailers that offer a varied assortment of foods comparable to what exists at a grocery store.
b. Pharmacies and alternative treatment centers
c. Medical supply stores
d. Retail Functions of gas stations and convenience stores
e. Hardware and Home Improvement Stores
f. Retail Functions of banks and other financial institutions
g. Retail functions of laundromats and dry-cleaning services
h. Pet stores
i. Liquor stores
j. Car dealerships, auto repair shops and auto parts stores.
k. Retail functions of mail and delivery stores
All non-essential, recreational, and entertainment businesses, including facilities where personal care services are performed that, by their very nature, result in noncompliance with social distancing guidelines, including but not limited to cosmetology shops; barber shops; beauty salons; nail salons; spas, at which solely elective and cosmetic medical procedures are performed, massage parlors, tanning salons, and tattoo parlors must close to the public as long as this order remains in effect.
The City of Dyer Police Department is authorized to enforce this order.
Mayor Younger said, “COVID-19 is spreading relentlessly through our communities and without strong and decisive action against this virus, we may soon be overrun. I know that these restrictions will be difficult for both residents and businesses, but we must work together to prevent further spread of the coronavirus. I know our local businesses are just as concerned about the health of our citizens as I am, and I’m certain we’ll have no difficulties with compliance.”
